What the National Hispanic Cultural Center Offers
The National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque is devoted to preserving, promoting and advancing Hispanic culture, arts and humanities. Its program includes exhibitions, lectures, readings, performances and educational activities, so a visit can focus on visual art or extend to a scheduled event.
The center opened to the public in October 2000, after more than a decade of work by the Hispanic Cultural Foundation and co-founder Ed Lujan. It stands at 1701 4th Street SW in the historic Barelas community. For a broader look at museums in Albuquerque, compare the center with other local options before you set your plans.

Galleries, Exhibitions and Performing Arts
The NHCC Art Museum has three gallery spaces and a collection of more than 3,000 artworks by Hispanic, Chicana/o/x, Latina/o/x/e and Latin American artists. Multiple exhibitions appear across its galleries each year, with the lineup changing over time.
Performing arts are another part of the center’s program. Ticket prices and reservation requirements depend on the event, so choose a performance first and use its event-specific listing to check what you need. The NHCC’s event calendar is the place to confirm the current exhibition lineup and performance details.
If you’re building a fuller city day around the visit, the one-day Albuquerque itinerary offers another planning angle.
